Below are some tips to help you and your child find ways to connect with each other and to find ways to help with stress …think mental health!
Walking is low-impact, enjoyable, stress-relieving, and easy. You can incorporate walking in your daily routine by parking your car far from the store, taking the steps instead of the elevator, or dancing in place anywhere! There’s so many ways to get moving… just start with one step!
Find a private space that will allow you at least 5 minutes of alone time to just write and unpack your day, if you can write a little longer, that’s even better.
Meditation can help with stress, clarity, anxiety, and mindfulness. This may be a little difficult for some, but start with meditating for 5 minutes and continue to build as you continue to practice.
You can sit in nature in your backyard, at a park, on your porch, or on a hiking trail. As you sit, try to take in every moment, every insect sound, every bird chirping, listen for the wind blowing, the trees swaying, and most importantly welcome the sun if it greets you while you are In that moment.
Stretching when you first wake up is the perfect way to get your day started, then you can grab that coffee. Stretching can possibly relieve stress, headaches, and body aches. It also helps with stiffness.
Yoga is a practice that has been used for many years and has proven to be beneficial for your body and soul, to help with anxiety and stress. A few of my favorite poses is the Cat/Cow and Child‘s pose.
Dancing is one of the most easiest ways to shake off your challenging days. Just pop on some headphones or not and dance your worries away! Dancing allows you to not just dance to your favorite songs, but to get your body moving, heart pumping, and possibly breaking a sweat while having fun. This is my favorite way to relieve stress!
Get a notepad and write some cheers for TEAM YOU! Make them as silly as you like and make up your own cheerleading routine. Keep them in your toolkit for when you need a positive boost!
Sleep with blinds or curtains open (or ajar) to enjoy the first rays of sunshine lighting up your bedroom.

In 2020, we started our family garden. It was a way to help my family focus on the beauty of seeing something start from seeds, to watch it grow, to harvest it, and to add to our meals.
Our garden served as a wellness garden, not just for the benefits of growing organic vegetables, but it created happiness too!
Since then, “Mama Sunshine’s Garden” has been growing strong for our family. One of my bonus daughters gave me that name, so I thought it was perfect for our garden.
